During my first trip to London, I visited the Tate Modern and had the opportunity to see the art of Hilma af Klint. The exhibit featured works by Klint and Mondrian, but I was only interested in Klint’s art. Every painting by Klint caught my attention, especially the large ones displayed in the final room. I sat down and immersed myself in the vibrant colors and captivating shapes. It brought me immense joy, and I could sense that the woman sitting next to me felt the same.
For me, traveling and enjoying life is not always about trying to see everything, especially in a city like London where moving from one neighborhood to another can take a good amount of time. I found tranquility and amazement by simply spending time at the Hilma af Klint exhibit, and it was more than enough. It was truly wonderful.
I also went to a street art tour in Shoreditch, a gritty neighborhood in East London that has undergone significant gentrification. The area is now filled with boutiques and trendy establishments. While on the tour, I noticed a few passersby who seemed to scoff or chuckle at our group as the tour guide spoke about the different street artists. It could have been my imagination, but I personally gained a lot of knowledge about the various artists and was able to recognize their painting styles after the tour guide explained them. I also appreciated the guide’s extensive knowledge and passion for the artists’ creative processes. Street art is often admired without much knowledge about the artists behind the pieces, and this tour provided a lot of insight.
